Round up of the week

This was the week when we held our first clothes swap party, in partnership with eco-boutique  Purity in Downing Street and local celebrity stylist Chantelle Znideric .

The rails were packed with gorgeous evening dresses, denims, blouses — something for everyone, in fact — and there was a lot of competition over some items.

The women of Farnham were generous in their giving and a good time was had by all. Proceeds went to Liberty Foundation.

We now plan to host other events, at different times of day and trying out themes such as accessories, evening-wear and kids clothes.

Thanks to Paula and Chantelle for hosting, and congratulations to Eloise Grey from Transition Farnham.

Earlier in the week our Monday evening meeting discussed four major topics in detail. It also covered announcements of ten other items. More details can be found here.

The Garden Share continues to go from strength to strength. No television or radio appearances by the team this week, but apparently we did have a call from Woman’s Hour!

Our focus has now switched to looking for gardeners to share the gardens that we have identified, so if you know of anybody who wants to grow fresh fruit and veg, please get in touch.

On Thursday Alex Scrivens had a good meeting with the Sustainability Officer at Waverley Borough Council.

And next week sees the launch of the biggest ‘eco-movie’ since An Inconvenient Truth.

It is called the Age of Stupid and you can watch the ‘making of’ movie here.

You can also book tickets to see it in Guildford here (if they haven’t already sold out!).

Finally, next Monday, 9 March Finn Jackson will be giving a lunchtime talk about Transition at the UCA. For more details click here or to book a (free) place click here.
