Midsummer Barbecue

bbq1What a feast!!

And what a wonderful evening…

We started out with a barbecue in Firgrove Hill, at the site of the vegetable garden filmed by the BBC way back in March? Or was it April?

The garden is now groaning with produce, and the barbecue was equally groaning under the weight of all the food that people brought.

Then we moved to a bonfire in Middle Avenue for songs (yes really!), marshmallows, and some lovely fireworks against the beautiful midsummer sunset sky (at 10:30pm!).

bbq2Finally to the old church yard at midnight, where all was dark and quiet.

If we listened carefully we could perhaps hear some of the 137 species of vertebrate animals that have recently been counted living there.
