What if people were more like ants?

Following on from yesterday’s post about sustainable building, here’s a thought for you: there are over six billion humans on the planet, which is far too many, right? But did you know that for every human being there are 150 thousand ants?

Weight for weight there are more ants than people. They have lived on this planet for longer than we have. They live in massive communities, or cities, like we do. But unlike us they have learned to live in harmony with their surroundings, to recycle their own waste, and that of others. The massive ‘cities’ that they live in not only do not pollute and destroy the environments they live in, they actually enhance them.

What if we could do the same?

Buildings account for about half of all the greenhouse gases in the world. What would happen if we chose to construct buildings that are in harmony with our natural world?

Here’s a short video:

And here’s a link to the website of the company that made it, and built the building.
