Walthamstow ecorefurb

Getting to 80% less carbon means we need to insulate our homes, and stop drafts (draughts?) getting in and out too. Easy to design into our new homes, but what about all the victorian terraces, 1930s semis, and of course (in Farnham) Georgian townhouses we all live in now?
Here’s a good article (part one of three) about what one couple in Walthamstowe have done.

It advises several good websites to go to for information, including the ‘Sustainable Energy Academy‘ — a website which can help you find an eco-‘superhome’ to visit near you. (Tom, you might like to get your place listed on there!).
To me there are a surprising number of houses around which have already achieved energy savings of 70%-80%. The article lists some of the things they looked at as ways to achieve this, and presumably parts 2 and 3 will show what they did next.
