Year-to-Date Global Temperatures are Warmest on Record

Yup, taking this straight from the LCCN newsletter posted yesterday, it seems that the US Department of Commerce reported (back in July) that so far this had been the warmest year on record.

Their map of temperature anomalies shows that much of the world has been 2-5 degrees centrigrade hotter than the average for 1971-2000:

although some areas of the oceans seem to be cooling.

And the effects on our weather (and ability to make money, go on holiday, grow food, …) are starting to be tracked by the Guardian here, while some helpful soul on YouTube has compiled a ‘medley’ of 2010 climate disasters (so far) here:
