Ever since I can remember, people at this time of year have been calling for the clocks not to turn back, but instead to keep summertime and give us lighter evenings.
Maybe people are still asking for it because it is a good idea.
Making this change would save 100 lives a year, and create around 80,000 jobs in leisure and tourism.
It would also reduce people’s heating and lighting bills, because the evenings would be lighter for longer.
On 3 December the ‘Daylight Saving Bill’ goes before parliament. If enough of us write to our MPs then we can influence the vote.
