One Minute Guide to Climate Week

Climate Week in March involves events and activities all over the UK showcasing the solutions and positive steps that will help combat climate change.
Here’s their “one minute guide to action”:
1) Encourage your organisation or its stakeholders to enter a project for the Climate Week Awards – the deadline is 4 February. The judging panel now includes the author of the Stern report Lord Nicholas Stern, the environmental advisors to Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Prince of Wales, and the Met Office Chief Scientist. The awards are for work to lower carbon emissions or combat climate change in categories such as Business, Education and Community. Other judges include the former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, the Corporate and Legal Affairs Director for Tesco, Lucy Neville-Rolfe, and the novelist Ian McEwan.

2) Sign up your organisation to take part in the biggest ever live environmental competition –the Climate Week Challenge. Thousands of teams in workplaces and schools will take part on 21 March, the first day of Climate Week. It helps develop skills of innovation and teamwork, and needs no preparation. You can do a one-day version or the one-hour MiniChallenge.

3) Please tell us about the events and activities you or your members are planning for Climate Week. We can then put them on the official events list promoted to the media and to key figures such as politicians, celebrities and business leaders. Register your event here.

A huge number of organisations are now planning events for Climate Week. Recent additions include a conference on renewable energy at London’s Guildhall and the UK’s largest green lifestyle exhibition. Events and activities are also being planned by our Headline Partner, Tesco, and four Supporting Partners Aviva, EDF Energy, Kelloggs and RBS.

Recent additions to our list of supporters include the Department of Health and Sport England, and organisations across the UK from the Isle of Eigg in the Hebrides to Cornwall County Council. The Climate Week co-ordination team has also grown, from 7 people to 15.

Please forward this email to anyone you know who may be interested in Climate Week.

With best wishes
