Chicken co-op

I was with some people from Transition Taunton over the weekend and they are starting up what seemed to me to be a VERY good idea: a chicken co-op.

(That is “co-op”, short for “co-operative”, rather than “chicken coop” :).)

A few of them are getting together to buy some chickens, erect fencing and a house, and put them in the garden of one of the friends. They will share the looking-after of the chickens, and the produce.

Renting a house at the moment, I miss my chickens. And I hate having nowhere useful to put my kitchen scraps (and putting them in the bin instead).

Is anybody else interested in setting up a chicken co-op?

Is this something that the FLF might want to take on as an extension to the work they already do?
