Urban agriculture in Havana, Cuba

A short film looking at the sucess of urban farming in Havana.

(There are some eye-opening facts at the end. For example, by using just 8% of the land in the city of Havana they are able to grow 90% of the fruit and veg eaten in the town.)

Cuba was hit by intense shortages of oil after collapse of the Soviet Union. This spurred them to create the largest program in sustainable urban agriculture ever undertaken.

And it also helped their economy.
