Creating a Local Food Policy for Waverley

As part of the push to get access to land for Farnham Local Food CSA , I attended the recent RTPI seminar on “Food and Planning”, see Programme Food and Planning 2

Last year Transition Farnham drafted a Local Food Policy paper for the Farnham Neighbourhood Plan consultation. It was decided to submit this to Waverley Borough Council Planning Department as a Supplementary Planning Document for the Local Plan also under consultation, see Local Food SPD

This SPD and the reply from the Waverley Planning Policy team were presented at the RTPI seminar. Here is Waverley’s reply: Waverley Planning Policy Management Team response to Local Food Policy SPD

Unfortunately Hugh Ellis, head of the Climate Change unit at the TCPA and keen advocate of the Garden Cities vision of sustainable settlements, was not able to attend. For more on TCPA visit  http://www.tcpa.org.uk/ However the seminar was most interesting and the talks by Colin Tudge and Dr Richard Nunes I hope to share more fully.
