Scholars Greenway launch!

To mark completion of the Scholars Greenway, and the final purchase of land at the Bishops Meadow,  Transition Town Farnham and the Bishops Meadow Trust are co-hosting a celebration on Sunday 23rd September 2012. Money raised through sponsorship should be donated to the Bishops Meadow Trust or the 3rd Farnham Scout Group’s refurbishment of Daniel Hall.

Starting at 12:30pm on the Bishops Meadow, activities, a barbecue, drinks and cakes will be available. Councillor Pat Frost, who has been instrumental in the development of the Scholars Greenway at county level, will carry out the official ribbon cutting ceremony by Potters Gate School at approximately 2:15pm.  This will also mark the start of a charity walk and cycle ride around Farnham giving participants the opportunity to explore the routes of the newly created Scholars Greenway and the proposed Weyside Greenway (see map below).

If you plan to arrive by car, park at either the Hart or Upper Hart car parks, near Waitrose. Please do not clog up Red Lion Lane or Crosby Way with cars.

The full route for cyclists is about 4.5 miles; the shorter route for walkers is about 3.5 miles. The route will be marshalled at intervals by people wearing bright jackets who will be able to help with where to go next (not that it is complicated.) We will give out some maps at the start but if you would like one in colour please print your own. Have fun!
