Loft Insulation

Loft Insulation is one of the ‘quick fixes’ that everyone seems to put off. Maybe there is too much ‘stuff’ in the attic, or you just don’t want strangers hanging out in your loft. ‘Stuff’ aside, loft insulation can save you hundreds of pounds, and yet can be installed by amateurs in a few hours (depending on the size of your roof). I had my mother helping me, and if we can do it, anyone can!

The current recommendations are 270mm, but to be honest, the more the better!

We used recycled plastic bottle insulation, which is easy to install and doesn’t require any special protective clothing. When we had finished, the roof void looked like it had a blanket of snow over it.

Some alternatives to the usual insulation include sheep’s fleece (ethical, but a bit on the expensive side).
