The Government is today announcing the launch of “the Low Carbon Communities Challenge, a two-year programme to provide financial and advisory support to 20 ‘test-bed’ communities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that are seeking to cut carbon emissions, support inward investment and foster community leadership.”

The Challenge is a two-year programme “to help government, local communities and a range of parties involved in the UK” understand how best to deliver a transition to greener, low carbon living at community level.

They have £10m to split between the twenty chosen communities, and the money must be spent on capital expenditure (not salaries).
